Franklin W. Olin Players (FWOP)

Overview

Outside of engineering and computing, I was deeply involved in Olin College’s student theater organization, the Franklin W. Olin Players (FWOP). Over multiple semesters I contributed as a stage manager, actor, director, assistant director, and ultimately as the club’s president. My work spanned technical stage management, artistic direction, and organizational leadership.

Through FWOP, I directed, acted, and managed productions while leading the organization as president, ensuring its sustainability for future students.

My Roles

• Stage Manager - coordinated backstage logistics for The Addams Family and Assassins.
• Actor - performed in Trap and Seven Reversals.
• Director - led the high-intensity production of Clue, staged during candidate weekends with only one month of prep time.
• Assistant Director - supported rehearsals, blocking, and mentoring the director for Carrie: The Musical.
• Board Member - served as Treasurer, managing budgets, rights, and resources.
• President - oversaw productions, mentored new leaders, and built documentation to ensure continuity of FWOP after senior graduations.

Impact

Through FWOP, I developed collaborative leadership skills in creative contexts. I directed and supported technically challenging productions, coordinated teams of actors and crew, and ensured organizational sustainability by training and empowering new leaders. These experiences gave me a broader perspective on teamwork, communication, and storytelling beyond my technical work.
